What is RAM in smartphone and computers? Is it really boost the speed of device?

Most people think that RAM is the only part of the devices which is responsible for the speed. Probably, you would also think that more RAM means high speed and less RAM means low speed of computer or smartphone. But I want to clear that this is half truth. In this post yo will learn about RAM.

What is RAM:

Now coming to the point, RAM stands for Random Access Memory. RAM handle the instruction and information between CPU (Central Processing Unit) and program. It also hold the session to display for user.

How RAM works:

RAM stores data temporary, So it can be called a storage device. It store the data to show on screen. It release all storage space when system is power off. If you start the mobile or computer, from the welcome message, all the operation and until the power off, everything which you can see on the screen, shown by the RAM only. RAM catch the command given by the user, give instruction to processor. Processor get the instruction from RAM, process the command and give the result to RAM to display the output.

How RAM is responsible for speed

As I told that RAM take the result information from CPU after processing command to show this on screen. Now assume, your computer has 2 GB RAM installed. You run a graphics designing software. We know, graphics software take more storage to run. Suppose that, you windows operating system consume 1 GB RAM for startup background application and services to run computer. If you run graphic or other high amount of RAM consuming software which takes more that 1 GB of RAM, your system will be hang or working too slow. Because system has maximum 2 GB RAM. RAM get the 1 GB data from CPU in form of operating system home screen and more than 1 GB in form of Designing software processing result. Total data size exceed the total size of RAM. In this scenario system works slow.

RAM should have be enough memory size always. You should know the use of device before buying. If you know this, You can choose the proper size of the RAM when buying the computer or smartphone.
